Gingerbread Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons freshly grated gingerroot
  • 2 tablespoons blackstrap molasses
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 strip of lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 star anise

Step-by-Step Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until syrup consistency.
  3. Strain, let cool and store in airtight container.
  4. Enjoy!
