If you are like most, the alarm goes off, you roll over and push the snooze button until there is no other option than to get out of bed. Quick shower, get dressed then it’s off to the races! But what about breakfast? We have all heard that it is the most important meal of the day and it really is. It “breaks the fast” of the prior night. When you wake up your body knows that it will be working for the rest of the day and in order to function properly and kick start your metabolism you need to refill the tank. Even if you are in a rush, don’t skip breakfast because it will lead to hunger, fatigue and possibly over eating later in the day.
While energy bars, cereal and packaged oatmeal are quick bites, there is so much more you can do with this morning meal. The best breakfast is a well-balanced combination of a variety of healthy foods that offer nutrients needed to kick start your day like fruits, protein, vegetables and whole grains. Putting these healthy ingredients together in delicious ways is what I have done here. Some are quick, some take a little more time and all are worth the effort. Enjoy!
